Ehsaas Noshunuma Program 2026

Simple Guide for Pregnant Women & Mothers

In Simple Words: The government gives Rs 2,000-2,500 per month to very poor pregnant women and mothers of babies under 2 years old. But you must attend health classes to receive the money.

Why Does This Program Exist?

In Pakistan, 38% of children under 5 years old do not grow properly. Their body and brain do not develop well. The first 1,000 days (from pregnancy to 2 years old) are the most important. If a child is not healthy in this time, it affects their whole life — school performance, health, and income as an adult.

This program started in 2020. The idea is simple: give cash to poor mothers, but only when they attend health classes. This way, babies get both money AND healthcare.

Who Can Apply?

You CAN apply if:

  • You are pregnant (any stage) OR breastfeeding OR your baby is under 23 months
  • You are a Pakistani citizen with a valid CNIC
  • Your family has low income (based on national poverty survey)
  • You are willing to attend health education classes
  • Your baby will follow the immunization schedule

You CANNOT apply if:

  • You or someone in your home has a government job
  • You already receive cash from another major welfare program
  • Your income is above the poverty line
  • You refuse to attend health classes

💡 Common mistake: Many people think ‘We have some land, so we won’t qualify.’ This is WRONG. Eligibility is based on INCOME, not assets. If your income is low, apply.

What Documents Do You Need?

Get these ready BEFORE applying:

  • Your original CNIC (and a photocopy)
  • Baby’s B-Form from NADRA (available 10-15 days after birth)
  • Bank account in YOUR own name (Ehsaas center can help you open one)
  • NADRA records must be up to date — check your address and marital status

💡 MOST IMPORTANT STEP: Check your NADRA records FIRST. Wrong marital status (e.g., shows ‘Married’ when you are a widow) = automatic rejection. This is the #1 reason for rejection.

3 Ways to Apply

Option 1: Online (Fastest)

Website: 8171.bisp.gov.pk or ehsaas.punjab.gov.pk

  • Click on ‘Register for Noshunuma Program’
  • Enter your 13-digit CNIC number (no dashes)
  • Fill in your name, address, and income details
  • Upload CNIC copy and B-Form
  • Submit and note down your reference number

Time: 2-4 weeks if documents are complete.

Option 2: SMS (If No Internet)

Type your 13-digit CNIC number and send to 8171

  • It is FREE — no charge
  • Works in rural areas too
  • You will get a confirmation SMS quickly

💡 Note: You will still need to visit a center later for biometric (fingerprint) verification.

Option 3: Visit Ehsaas Center (Most Reliable)

Go to your nearest Ehsaas Noshunuma center. Bring your original CNIC.

What will happen there:

  • Your CNIC will be verified with NADRA
  • Staff will help you fill the form
  • Your fingerprint will be scanned on the same day
  • Your documents will be submitted
  • You will get a reference slip

What Happens After You Apply?

Week 1-2: Processing

The system checks: Does your CNIC match NADRA? Is your income verified in the poverty survey? Are you already in another program?

Week 2-4: Verification

A health worker may visit your home to confirm your pregnancy or baby’s status and that your address is correct.

💡 Practical tip: Stay at home during this time. The worker may come once more if they miss you. Missing them causes delay.

Week 4-6: Approval

If everything matches, you get approval. An SMS will come with your bank details.

Month 2-3: First Payment

Money will be transferred to your bank account. Collect from HBL ATM or Ehsaas center ATM.

7 Real Problems (That Nobody Tells You About)

Problem What Happens How to Avoid
Missing health classes Payment is stopped for that quarter Attend every class — it is mandatory, not optional
B-Form not ready Application is on hold Get B-Form from NADRA within 10-15 days of birth
Fingerprint scan fails You must visit again (2-4 week delay) If skin issues, inform staff before scan
Bank account inactive Money is blocked Keep account active, check regularly
NADRA mismatch Automatic rejection Update NADRA BEFORE applying — this is #1 reason for rejection
Health worker home visit Some women feel uncomfortable It is required to prevent fraud — stay calm
Low awareness in rural areas Many mothers miss out Share this information with neighbors and family

3 Real Stories

Fatima — Lahore (Approved in 4 Weeks)

7 months pregnant, household income Rs 20,000/month. Applied online, CNIC was already updated. Approved in 4 weeks, receives Rs 6,000 every quarter.

Why it worked: Everything was correct from the start — no delays.

Ayesha — Rural Sindh (8 Weeks, Delayed)

Sent SMS but NADRA had old address. Had to update NADRA first. Fingerprint also needed a second attempt.

Lesson: Update your address first. Skipping this step = 2 months wasted.

Shazia — Rejected, Then Approved

CNIC showed ‘Married’ but she was a widow. Automatic rejection. Updated marital status at NADRA. Reapplied 2 months later — approved.

Lesson: Wrong marital status = rejection. Fix it first.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Eligibility

Q: My first baby is over 2 years old and my second baby will be born soon. Can I apply?

A: Yes. You can apply separately for each pregnancy. Eligibility starts from the second baby’s date of birth.

Q: Can an unmarried mother apply?

A: Official eligibility does not mention marital status specifically. But your CNIC must match your NADRA records. For any confusion, call 0800-26477.

Q: My brother has a government job and lives in our home. Can I still apply?

A: If he lives in the SAME home (same expenses), you may be disqualified. If he lives separately and has separate income, you can apply.

Q: My income changes (daily wage worker). How will they decide?

A: The system uses the national poverty survey data, not your daily wage. Whatever income was recorded in the survey will count. If it was low, apply.

Q: Do I get double payment for twin babies?

A: The official policy is not clear on this. Confirm by calling the Ehsaas helpline at 0800-26477 or ask at your Ehsaas center.

Payments

Q: What does ‘quarterly payment’ mean — when do I get the money?

A: Every 3 months you get one payment. That means 4 times per year. For a baby boy: Rs 4,500 at once. For a baby girl: Rs 6,000 at once.

Q: Does the first payment come during pregnancy or after birth?

A: Payment starts AFTER birth — after the B-Form and birth registration are done. Registration happens during pregnancy, payment comes after.

Q: If I miss a health class, will my payment stop?

A: Yes. The next quarter’s payment is held. If you had a valid reason (illness, emergency) you can request a review, but it is not guaranteed. Do not skip classes.

Q: How do I collect the money? Is HBL ATM the only option?

A: HBL ATM is the most common option. Ehsaas centers also have dedicated ATMs. In some areas, mobile money (JazzCash/EasyPaisa) may also be available — confirm with your center.

Q: My money did not arrive. What should I do?

A: First check payment status at the 8171 portal or by SMS. Then check if your bank account is active. If everything is fine and money still has not arrived, call 0800-26477 or file a complaint at complaints.pass.gov.pk.

Documents

Q: I do not have a B-Form yet. Can I still apply?

A: You can register during pregnancy, but the baby’s payment will not be processed without a B-Form. Get it from NADRA within 10-15 days of birth.

Q: My CNIC is expired. Can I still apply?

A: No. You need a valid CNIC. Get it renewed at NADRA first, then apply.

Q: Can I apply using my husband’s CNIC?

A: No. The application and payment are only in the MOTHER’s name — your CNIC and your bank account.

Q: I do not have a bank account. Will I miss out on the program?

A: No. The Ehsaas center will help you open a bank account. But it MUST be in your own name — no one else’s account will work.

Process & Timeline

Q: How many days after applying will I know if I am approved?

A: If documents are complete, you will get an SMS in 4-6 weeks. Incomplete documents or NADRA mismatch can cause delays.

Q: The health worker did not come to my home. What happens to my verification?

A: In some cases, verification happens at the center visit. If a worker was supposed to come and did not, contact your Ehsaas center and ask to reschedule.

Q: I was rejected. Can I apply again?

A: Yes. Find the reason (written in the rejection letter or ask the helpline). Fix that specific issue (usually NADRA). Then reapply in the next registration window.

Q: How long will I keep getting payments?

A: Until your baby turns 23 months old (just under 2 years). After that, payments stop automatically.

Health Classes

Q: Where are the health classes held?

A: At Ehsaas Noshunuma centers. Find your nearest center at 8171.bisp.gov.pk or by calling the helpline.

Q: What do they teach in health classes?

A: Nutrition for baby and mother, breastfeeding, immunization schedule, clean water and hygiene, and how to prevent common childhood illnesses. The information is practical and important.

Q: I have no transport to reach the center. What can I do?

A: This is a real problem. Some areas have mobile health units — ask your center. If you have a genuine transport issue, tell the helpline. In some cases, an exemption is given.

Online / Technical

Q: The 8171 portal is not accepting my registration. What could be wrong?

A: Common issues: CNIC entered with dashes (remove them), old NADRA data mismatch, or slow server. Try: remove dashes, clear browser, try at a different time. If it still does not work, visiting the center is the best option.

Q: I sent the SMS but got no reply.

A: Send again — sometimes there is a network delay. If no reply in 24 hours, check your network. Remember the SMS is free but network issues can happen. A center visit is reliable.

Q: Is the Ehsaas Noshunuma app on Google Play?

A: Yes. Search ‘Ehsaas Noshunuma’ or ‘Ehsaas’ on Google Play Store. You can track your status on the official app. iOS availability is limited.
